I cannot get enough of this beautiful fall we’re having. The leaves are finally starting to turn here, and the weather has been nothing short of beautiful. Most days are still warm and sunny, but we’ve had just enough chilly, rainy days too that make you want to throw on a cozy sweater and sip on a mug of hot chocolate. And I’ve needed a reason to finally wear my collection of cute boots that I seem to keep adding to throughout the year… : ) I truly love this season!
I’ve shared quite a few different spaces from our little farmhouse dressed up for fall over the last month or so… from our country kitchen, to the cozy living room, to a simple fall table setting, to our master bedroom retreat, to our festive front porch…
… and now I get to share probably my favorite space of all with you… our patio! After giving this tiny concrete slab in our backyard a big makeover this summer, I couldn’t let this season go by without adding a touch of fall to our sweet, little patio. This has been the perfect place to sit outside during the day, looking at the gorgeous colors on the trees and feeling the warm sunshine on my face, and my favorite spot to sit under the stars at night with candles lit and a cozy blanket wrapped around me.
You guys already know that I don’t go too overboard with seasonal decorating, and our patio is the perfect example of that philosophy. All I did was remove some of the colorful, summery pillows I had on the bench and went with a more neutral color palette of tan, gray, and cream. Burlap and plaid add some pattern and texture, and a couple of pumpkins (okay seven, to be exact) scattered around the patio instantly give this space the feeling of fall. Some pretty purpley-pink mums and a mess of fallen leaves on the rug make me smile… nature does some of its best work this time of year.
Do you remember the beautiful set of French doors we pulled out of great grandpa’s barn this summer? Right now they’re in our breezeway behind a little bench, but we also pulled this super tall wood ladder out of the barn that day too! I love how it fills in some of the blank space on the sides of our potting bench, and I love even more that it has a little family history to it. Pieces like this always tend to become my favorite in our home.
Who wants to join me for some hot chocolate out here on my little fall patio? I’d love to hear what you think about this space!

Liz, its so cozy for fall. Love the details.
We’ve had great weather here too in Ontario, now its been rainy and chilly the last few days. All apart of the season.
Enjoy.
i always enjoyed your blog and decorating style, because it was so “real” and approachable. While I still think it’s lovely, it’s now just like flipping through a magazine for the pretty pictures. Most of it is not practical or what most would have/do in their home.
Again, it all really is beautiful.
Hi Liz. This is such an inviting patio. I wouldn’t have done it better!
So cozy! I love it! I especially like how you created your table…I am pinning for future reference!
very beautiful place !
Very cozy. I hope the weather stays nice so you can enjoy longer.
What a beautiful makeover from summer to fall on the patio. I love the softer side of fall. Your patio is so inviting. Have a Happy Fall! Enjoy!
