Fall Farmhouse Kitchen

Get inspired for fall decorating with this lovely fall farmhouse kitchen! See more photos at LoveGrowsWild.com

Around this time last year I was finishing up my kitchen makeover, and to be honest, not much has changed since then! Even though we weren’t in a position to completely renovate and get the new countertops, cabinets, and flooring I’ve been dreaming of, I was able to give the kitchen some much needed style and accessories to make the room feel complete.

We added a small shelf with hooks to hang my aprons, and it’s been the perfect spot to display a few decorative items as well. It’s been awhile since I updated this shelf (um… last fall to be exact!), so today I’m sharing with you a sweet little fall farmhouse kitchen display to inspire your fall decorating! Wood, metal, natural elements, and neutral colors come together to create a simple look with a vintage feel and a nod to this beautiful season.

This look was inspired by a gorgeous farmhouse kitchen fabric from Canvas Corp. I pinned the canvas fabric to a mini wood pallet I made last year and added a rustic metal fork and spoon and a painted mason jar full of wheat.

On the other side, I added an old box grater, a vintage cloth, and some wooden acorns set inside a painted clay pot.

The texture of the rusted metal, the color of the wheat, and the richness of the wood grain… it all just makes me happy. And what’s that peeking in the background?

That’s my huge rustic industrial chalkboard and numbered plate display… two of my favorite projects from this kitchen!

Do you feel inspired to add a touch of fall in your home? I hope so! I have to admit, I’m not big into decorating my whole house top to bottom for every season, but I can handle little bits and pieces like this.

Tell Me! Do YOU decorate for every season or just for your favorites? I’d love to hear your thoughts! Just leave me a comment below.

I used to decorate, fall is my absolute favorite, but I’ve lost many family members (pets included) and I just don’t have it anymore. So I enjoy everyone else’s decorations. I love what you did, very warm and inviting. TFS

I went through the whole ordering process of that fabric immediately after seeing your first photo. It’s amazing! Then I got to the shipping cost. Gad. So I left the site. Bummer. 🙁

I’m so happy you love the fabric as much as I do! I check with my friends over at Canvas Corp, and they said they are currently updating their shipping calculations and are happy to give you (and all my readers!) free shipping! Just use the code “farmhouse” when you check out. I just saw that they are going to offer free shipping now through the end of the year, so feel free to shop around! Thank you for giving me this feedback. I know the folks at Canvas Corp really appreciated it!

Liz, this is just absolutely gorgeous! I love the rustic quality of the display and wish I had your talent. I decorate for Christmas and look at your website and dream about decorating for every season:) How do you keep the spoon from falling over?

Heather, trust me… if I can put this together, so can you! You should see what my last house looked like… I’ve come a long way in the past few years! Lol 🙂 The spoon is made with a nice, heavy metal, so just resting it against the wood pallet is enough to hold it in place. Thank you so much for stopping by to check out my kitchen!

Hey Liz! I found those at Hobby Lobby sometime this past year. I’m not sure if they’d still have those exact ones, but you may be able to find something similar in their metals section!

A weird side angle of the living room as proof tha A weird side angle of the living room as proof that a giant TV does in fact exist in here, and we are just a normal family who loves movie nights snuggled up on the couch with the dog & football Sundays with all the yummy food during the game (one benefit of having an open concept living/dining room). I purposely placed the TV in a spot where it isn’t the main focal point of the room and designed the space to draw your eye to other much prettier things like the big picture window just to the left of this photo.

Want to try something like this in your living room? See if you can arrange the furniture so the TV isn’t the main focal point in the room, but still has visibility from the majority of your seating. Try making the focus a fireplace, window, or create a gallery wall with pretty artwork if you don’t have any standout architectural elements!

Just a little tidbit of advice I’ve learned & loved & wanted to pass along... Happy Monday, sweet friends!

Quite possibly my favorite view in the house. And Quite possibly my favorite view in the house. And also quite possibly the best place for morning snuggles, second cups of coffee, and the occasional Netflix binge. This room was “shiplapped” over 5 years ago now, but it has never felt like a passing fad or overly trendy with a mix of other vintage & traditional elements in the room. These big, wide planks have my whole heart just as much as the day we installed them back in 2015.

What’s your opinion on shiplap? In? Out? Vertical? Horizontal? Focal wall or the entire room? I’d love to hear your thoughts!

NEW! THE ARMSTRONG HOUSE LIVING ROOM REVEAL Last NEW! THE ARMSTRONG HOUSE LIVING ROOM REVEAL

Last time I shared an update on Mom’s house, I had just revealed the completed renovation, and you were able to see all the freshly painted white walls, new carpet & flooring, and a very stark blank canvas. We intentionally made this space light, bright, & neutral since 1) it’s a rental home, and we want it to appeal to a variety of styles. And 2) it’s VERY small, so the light paint makes it feel much more open & spacious than dark paint would! But all those white walls were in desperate need of a warm, cozy touch, and that’s exactly what Mom and I did…

a completely new living room design
in the prettiest beachy cozy cottage style
all on a small budget
in a very small rental home!

These are a few of my favorite things... 1️⃣ These are a few of my favorite things...

1️⃣ a piece of handmade art that brings me back to my elementary schools days of paper mache creations. I saw something similar in a store with a much higher price tag & got inspired to see if I could recreate it myself. Spoiler alert: it worked & the tutorial is on my blog! search “pressed flower art” on lovegrowswild .com

2️⃣ my favorite white vases that we sold in the shop @lovegrowswildmarket this past year

3️⃣ my growing collection of interior design books. Naturally more of a minimalist, I have very few “collections” of things, but having beautiful books around the house that I can both decorate with & draw inspiration from has been one of the best gifts to myself over the last year. You can find all my current favorite design books in the link below.

Oh, and 4️⃣ a faux plant because who has time to remember to water real ones?
