Today’s post is a little different from what you typically see here, but I thought it would be fun to show you some of what goes on behind the blog… from my husband’s perspective! I’m giving the microphone… or keyboard, I suppose… over to Jeremy to share what life is like being married to a blogger. Don’t worry, more DIY’s, recipes, and kitchen updates are coming up next week, but I promise this post will make you laugh (sometimes at my expense) and give you insight into how Jeremy and I work together. He is the calm to my creative storm, wipes my tears when I fail, and is my biggest cheerleader when I succeed. I think you guys are going to love getting HIS point of view today on the blogging business and learning more about what he does for a living… farming!
My sweet friend, Shayna, from The Wood Grain Cottage is a fellow blogger AND farm wife, and she is interviewing her husband today too! Be sure to check that post out here, and keep reading here for a fun surprise coming on Friday!
You’re up, babe!
What role do you play on the blog and in the blogging business?
I am the all-purpose “hey, what do you think/how would I do this” multi-tool she keeps in her toolbox. I also move all the furniture she feels the need to rearrange weekly.
What is your favorite project that Liz blogged about?
The door that we turned into a bench was one of my favorites. Liz had the basic idea for the build, and I sketched the curves for the sides, giving it a church pew feel. Liz is usually the artistic one, but it was nice to have the opportunity to show my artistic side too.
If you could change one thing in your house, what would it be?
A living room with a recliner that no one else is allowed to move or sit on. Or put annoying throw pillows on.
How do you describe Liz’s job to others when they ask?
She is a business woman with a multifaceted organization that requires a multitalented, hardworking, and dedicated CEO/COO.
What is one thing about Liz that would surprise people?
She’s a ginger.
What’s the most rewarding thing that’s come from the blog/business?
Being able to help my wife grow as a business person, and watching the success that she has earned all on her own merits.
Has there ever been a project you’ve worked on with Liz that caused some friction or brought you closer together?
The kitchen renovation and book project accomplished both of these. While having the house torn apart and making toast with a propane torch was somewhat of a challenge, it was a wonder to see my wife work her magic on such a large scale.
What is your favorite part of living on a real working farm?
The freedom that I have to make my own decisions and the fact that it is, at its heart, always about family. It is harder than having a job with a steady paycheck, however much more rewarding to know that I am the one responsible for the successes.
What does your typical day on the farm look like?
Right now we farm corn and soybeans. Spring through fall we keep the wheels turning on the equipment, whether it is tilling the soil and planting or just trying to keep up with mowing yards and ditches. Then finally when the days start to grow shorter and the leaves begin to turn, harvest arrives, and we have the wonderful opportunity to reap the rewards of all our hard work and take in the crop. Then in winter I become the blogger’s husband again and do my best to keep the CEO happy.
What would you say your style is? How does your style differ from Liz’s?
I reckon it would be rustic, with just a hint of gun powder. I like wood… and metal. Liz likes white, with just a hint of white.
Seriously… isn’t he the sweetest for coming on the blog today and giving me a day off? Show him some love by leaving a comment below! Feel free to ask any questions you have for him/us too!
But I’m not letting Jeremy off the hook just yet. We’ll both be back on Friday for a fun, little style challenge that you won’t want to miss. Husband vs. Wife… who do YOU think will win?
LET’S KEEP IN TOUCH!

A chair without throw pillows!!!! Love it ๐ I love how your pride for your wife and your love shine through every answer.
Hahahaha! This is so fun! And I was totally cracking up at the last comment…Liz likes white, with a hint of white! You are the queen of white on white! I can’t pull it off in my house, but every time I look at your pictures I’m in love with how you do it!!!!
This was hilarious…and very sweet. ๐ Y’all clearly make a great team! Can’t wait to see what the future has in store for your cute family… ๐
Will be back on Friday to see how these guys put their stylin on!! Aren’t farmer husbands the best!! I am married 30 years to a hard workin, lover of the land, john deere green lovin, hubby! We have survived many DIY jobs and work well together making a house a home. Funny, how my hubby kinda of shudders when I mention more white as well!! You have created a beautiful home together !!
Proud to see what the neighbor kids have turned into. Nice blog, guys.
I love it when the dudes take over for a bit! I always tell mine that my readers will soon love him more than me & demand he take it over permanently. I loved reading Jeremy’s perspective!
Haha, I loved this! His comment about the annoying throw pillows made me laugh out loud! My husband is always re-angling his chair and throwing the throw pillows on the ground. Ha! I loved reading more about your farm! Thanks for sharing!
I love the way Jeremy keeps it real. None of my guys like throw pillows!!
Awesome! He sounds like a keeper!
I’m a brand new reader and really enjoyed this post! I’m an old farm wife with a daughter who is getting married to a farmer, this summer. I sure do admire young men and women who have the courage to farm. It’s not easy, but it’s such an important job. You and Liz are destined to make it because it sounds like both of you are committed to one another and your family life. God bless you both!
I love this blog so much and I feel like we connect. My husband & I build rustic furniture for a living. I run the business side and now blog too and he runs the building aspects.
It’s so sweet to hear what you have to say about your wife.

Love reading Jeremy’s perspective. He is a keeper. Loved all the photos too. Especially the one of him on the truck on the quilt. Did you make that?
I wish I could say I made that quilt! Jeremy’s grandmother made it for us when we got married, so it has a lot of special meaning. ๐
From Ryan : Throw pillows are known as such due to being thrown off of whatever they’re on.
From Lindsey: Great blog, guys! Loving a sneak peek into your world!
Love and miss you guys!!
xoxo Jeremy and Liz
It’s honered that you support your wife in every way you can mostly as a “always ready for use multi-tool” ๐ It seemed you both complement each other – she’s the organizer / thinker and you the doer.
Starting today I call my hubby “Hey what do you think / how should I do this multi-tool” lol. He realized my craft ideas like you do for Liz but he’ll get light annoyed if I often move the furnitures .. How does you keep calm??
Lol! I promise him a good meal after we’re done moving furniture. ๐
I love his “rustic with a hint of gun powder” style answer – what a great pair you two are!!
Thanks for sharing! Jeremy has a great sense of humor and what a hard worker! Love your kitchen too!
So glad I found you! I live in Brownsburg and my hubby’s name is Jeremy too ๐ You two make a pretty good team! I LOVE the ginger comment! Ha! Can’t wait to see what happens on Friday!
Small world! Thank you so much for stopping by! ๐
I love how raw, and natural, and sweet this post is. Spoken from the heart. Thank you for all the hard work you do on the farm.
Haha! My two favorite comments….the recliner that isn’t moved, sat on by anyone else and no throw pillows and the white with a touch of white. Hilarious and priceless. You guys are the best.
I really enjoyed these last two posts. I am also married to a farmer for the past 27 years. Farm wives more than anyone I think understand the working together thing, there’s always a project to do. I especially like his gun project, looks exactly like something my husband would make! I also love your house by the way, I always think I am going to go all neutral and I love to see how you pull it all together. Very talented!
Seeing Jeremy eat his lunch on the tailbed of the truck brings back a lot of memories. I agree up on a dairy farm in southwestern Wisconsin and one of my jobs was to drive afternoon lunch out to my dad in the fields. While he always came in for the noon “dinner”, lunch was often with him on his John Deere or on the back of the truck eating a sandwich, cake, cookie and drinking coffee. My dad never had such a beautiful quilt to sit on, like Jeremy!
I did things backwards and saw your nightstand project…and then had to read the interview. Got a kick out of it. Love the thought of all that white with your farm boots!!!
My uncle, cousins, nephew all farm too. In the Midwest. A busy life. My Dad did til I was done with third grade. Out here all the farmland is of a different kind. Seems a lot is becoming houses though.
Nice support of moving that furniture weekly plus supporting her white on a little bit of white!!
