Burger Bowl

I love taking simple comfort foods with familiar flavors and turning them into healthier macro-friendly meals that everyone in my family can enjoy. These burger bowls are the perfect example and so easy to whip up on a busy weeknight. Tastes just like a delicious, mouthwatering burger with all the fixings, minus the bun so you can enjoy a low-carb meal or add in a side of yummy roasted potatoes!

Burger Bowl

The beauty of this meal is you really only have to do two things: brown some ground beef + chop some veggies. The roasted potatoes are completely optional, but I like to add them in since we’re saving carbs with this “bunless” burger. If you track macros, this is such an easy meal because it’s just a few ingredients that you can include or not depending on your nutrient needs for the day. Need more protein? Double your serving of ground beef. Need more carbs? Add more potatoes. Need less fat? Take away some of the cheese and sauce. Picky kids? Let them choose whatever toppings they feel like eating. Everyone is happy and fed with a meal that took you less than 20 minutes to make.

  • Author: Liz Fourez

Ingredients

Units Scale

For the burger:

1 lb ground beef (90-94% lean)

1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

1/2 tsp garlic powder

1/2 tsp onion powder

1/2 tsp smoked paprika

3/4 tsp salt

1/4 tsp pepper

For the bowl:

1/4 of the cooked ground beef

shredded lettuce

diced tomato

shredded cheddar cheese

chopped pickle

pickled red onion

G Hughes Sugar Free Burger Sauce or Primal Kitchen Special Sauce

roasted potatoes, fries, or tater tots

Instructions

Add the ground beef to a large skillet and season with Worcestershire, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Cook over medium heat about 5-7 minutes until browned and no longer pink, breaking into crumbles as it cooks. Set aside.

Roast or bake the fries, potatoes, or tater tots – if using.

Assemble a bowl with ¼ of the cooked ground beef and any of the following toppings: shredded lettuce, diced tomato, chopped pickle, shredded cheddar cheese, pickled red onion, roasted potatoes, and burger sauce.
