Apple Upside Down Spice Cake

It’s hard to believe that summer is already slipping away, and I’m starting to look forward to cooler weather and decorating the farmhouse for fall. It seems like as soon as we get that first chilly morning, I’m craving pumpkin and apple desserts and wanting to bust out my chunky sweaters and boots. I’m sure I say this about every season, but fall is one that I really look forward to!

I haven’t quite convinced myself that it’s okay to start pulling out my pumpkins and plaid pillows to decorate the house with yet, but I DID find myself in the kitchen the other day whipping up one of my favorite easy fall treats, Apple Upside Down Spice Cake. It is such a simple recipe and has all the best flavors of fall, so I thought I’d share it with you today to kick off your holiday baking season!

Farmhouse Christmas Kitchen + Gingerbread Bundt Cake

The other day I was working on decorating our kitchen a little bit for the holidays, and I realized that this time last year we were still living with our old kitchen and just about to completely tear everything down almost to the studs. It feels like forever since we were living through that month long renovation with construction dust everywhere and eating microwave dinners more times than I want to count, but it is such an amazing feeling to have this beautiful space now, especially around the holidays.

I’ve been doing a ton¬†of baking in here lately, and I have an amazing Gingerbread Bundt Cake recipe that I want to share with you today. It is so simple to whip up¬†and makes a beautiful centerpiece for your holiday table with very little effort! But first, let’s take a little tour around the kitchen…

Orange Lemon Shake-up

This summer has been a busy one so far,¬†with me finishing up final edits on my book and plenty of jobs up at the farm to be done. Thank goodness for our two eager little boys who love to help Daddy wash tractors. But in between all the long work days, we’re having a lot of fun too with pool days, drive-in movies, bonfires, and occasionally an ice cream cone or two. Or three.

Lately though, unless I’m able to be near a body of water, I try to stay in the A/C as much as possible… it has been smoking hot lately!¬†My favorite way to cool off this summer has been a¬†recipe that I actually shared¬†eons ago, but thought that since I only had about 2 followers back then (and one was probably my sweet mom), it was about time to bring it back to the blog.
