Fall isn’t just about the comfort food and pumpkin desserts… Don’t forget about enjoying a refreshing Fall cocktail too! This Apple and Pear White Sangria is the perfect beverage to sip on this Fall!
It’s the weekend folks, and I’m ready for a cocktail! How about you? I’m not sure how this happened, but somehow my blonde-headed little baby is turning four this weekend, and I don’t think I’m ready for this! I actually really enjoy him at this age… He has such a big personality that just lights up a room and an incredible sense of humor that he clearly did not get from his Momma. He’s such a rough and tough little bruiser, but he also has the biggest, most gentle heart and incredible character. There are some days I beat my head against the wall with that kid (probably because he inherited the perseverance of his Mom and the stubbornness of his Dad, which is a lethal combination), but there are many days where Jeremy and I look at each other in awe of the amazing little boy we are raising. I guess that’s what parenting is all about, right?
Well anyway, enough of the sappy Mommy talk… I no longer have a baby or a toddler and frankly, I need some sangria. Sound good?
I usually only like wine that is basically as sweet as juice, so sangria is right up my alley. Standard red sangria is delicious, but I’d have to say white sangria is my favorite! I start with a sweet Moscato wine, add a little bit of extra liqueur (because, I mean, why not?), some sugar, and lots of fresh fruit.
You can put all kinds of different fruit into sangria, but for this version I went with a Fall theme and added Granny Smith apples and Bartlett pears. I wanted the sangria to be really bright and refreshing, so I chose to add a lemon liqueur and plenty of lemon zest and fresh-squeezed lemon juice. After chilling for at least 4 hours in the fridge, I top the sangria off with some seltzer to add a bit of fizziness and serve each glass with plenty of the wine-soaked fruit.
I’ve tried making a few different types of sangria before, but this one is BY FAR my favorite! It is so sweet and refreshing, and the lemon really brings out the flavor of the apples and pears!
Each Fall for years I’ve been making my favorite Apple Pie drink, but I think this sangria is going to officially become my new favorite! It is THAT good!
If you love fruity sweet wines, you must try this recipe! It will become your new favorite too!
Apple and Pear White Sangria
1 bottle Moscato wine
1/2 cup lemon liqueur (I used Caravella)
Zest of 2 lemons
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup fresh lemon juice (from two lemons)
1 Granny Smith apple, cored, halved, and thinly sliced
1 Bartlett pear, cored, halved, and thinly sliced
1 can (12 ounces) seltzer
In a large pitcher, combine wine, lemon liqueur, lemon zest, and sugar. Stir until sugar dissolves. Add lemon juice, apple slices, and pear slices and mix well. Place pitcher in refrigerator for 4 hours to chill and allow flavors to blend. Just before serving, top sangria off with seltzer.
– You can also strain sangria after chilling to remove lemon zest, if desired.

I forgot to get lemon liqueur will it still taste good without the lemons and lemon liqueur?
I made this last night, it was soooo good! Everyone looved it. Thanks so much for sharing.
Having this for Thanksgiving this year because it looks soooo good. I have already had a few while I prep for the big day and I can’t wait to have my first taste.
Hey Bryan! I’m so glad you enjoyed the sangria! What a perfect way to get ready for the big holiday. ๐ Thanks for stopping by!
After spending 3 hours in my mothers kitchen cooking thanksgiving dinner, this was an amazing pick me up. We didn’t have any lemon liquor, so I omitted that, and I added pomegranate seeds. It was light and refreshing. Next time I make it I might try adding pear brandy to compliment the pears.
Pomegranate seeds and pear brandy… sounds amazing!! I’m so glad you enjoyed the sangria! I bet it was well deserved after all that cooking!
Liz,
This sounds delicious! I was wondering, what size bottle of wine did you use?
Thank you, Linda! The bottle of wine I used was 750ml. Hope you enjoy!
I seen this recipe on Ziplist and can’t wait to try it!
Thanks so much for stopping by, Kat! Hope you enjoy the recipe!
I love sangria – my favorite cocktail! Can’t wait to try it. This doesn’t strike me as just a fall drink. I’m thinking it reminds me of a refreshing glass of lemonade in the summertime.
So true! I think you’re going to love this sangria!
Looks delicious! I was wondering if you think Lemoncello would work for the lemon liquor?
I haven’t tried it, but I imagine it would be a suitable substitute. You’ll have to let me know how it turns out! This is one of my very favorite drinks!
this looks fabulous! So excited to find your site
Thank you, Alison! I’m so happy to have you here! Enjoy the sangria. ๐
Tried this over the weekend for my party and hit was a HUGE hit! It went twice as quickly as my red wine based sangria and people have been raving about it so much that I’m going to have to make it more often! I poured them individually into mason jars and one of my favorite parts was eating the alcohol soaked apple/pear slices out of the jar when I was finished. Thanks so much for the recipe!! P.s. Nicole, I used the Lemoncello and it was delicious!
I’m so happy to hear that, Leann!! I bet the sangria looked absolutely beautiful in the mason jars, and I totally eat the fruit slices too! Thank you so much for sharing! ๐
Wow! This sounds amazing!! SO pretty too!
