light, bright & cozy…
That’s exactly how I would describe our living room for Christmas this year. I was waiting for the time to finish a few big projects in here before I shared this space with you, and while it’s not 100% complete yet, it’s perfect for now. The tree is up, the stockings are hung, and soon our little family will be celebrating here together. Welcome inside, sweet friends…

The big project I was hoping to complete before Christmas was moving the white bookshelf on the wall behind the sofa and adding a second one to create a beautiful backdrop for artwork and accessories. You may remember the DIY art shelf that was here before, and while I absolutely loved having that shelf to play with, these bookshelves fill the space so much better.
I gave the new IKEA bookshelf the same custom backing as I did the first one, exchanging the flimsy piece of cardboard that comes with the furniture for sturdier, more visually appealing vertical shiplap (a.k.a. pine 1×4’s).
Once the Christmas tree is gone and I can center the bookshelves on this wall, I plan to add a little bit of molding to give it a more “built-in” look. And I also have another idea up my sleeve that I’m SO excited to try!

clay tree ornaments | white bulb ornaments
For my tree this year, I decided to keep it on the minimal side, using a mixture of:
large pearl & matte bulbs
chunky cream knit garland
oversized pearl strands
my homemade clay ornaments
a few natural touches of pinecone & wood
some snowglobes
and pieces of white & baby blue ribbon tied onto the branches
I hadn’t planned on adding that soft blue to the tree this year, but when I found the prettiest blue wrapping paper at Target this year, I decided to carry the color up through the Christmas tree as well. Ribbon is such an easy way to do this, as it’s less expensive than ornaments, easy to store, and you can change the color ribbon from year to year without much expense or effort.

diy covered books | vases | trees + polar bear | diy artwork
medallion rug (top) | jute & cotton rug (bottom)
We spend a lot of time snuggled up here right now, watching Christmas movies and playing board games. Of course our little guy, Remy, is enjoying all the added coziness too in his favorite nap spot.
rusty peace letters | wall sconce | stockings – handmade | star garland
sofa | sage blanket
I hope over the next few days you are able to enjoy the holiday, however it may look this year. Merry Christmas, sweet friends. I’m so grateful to have you as part of the Love Grows Wild family!

Your decorations are great. I like the tree trimmed in white it is very attractive. The vignette is perfect for the setting. Enjoy your Christmas in that lovely decorated room.
