Simple Falling Leaves Tablescape

A simple, yet stunning fall tablescape inspired by nature

Some years I’m inspired to create elaborate table settings for fall with all the pumpkins and candles and beautiful things I can pack in, and some years I choose to embrace the unique beauty of the season and keep things as simple and organic as possible. I already have a feeling this will be a year where you see simple moments of warmth and coziness, and to be honest I think this is my favorite way to decorate for my very favorite season.

Fall is a very busy time for us on the farm, and instead of dragging out all my nice plates and wine glasses and fancy silverware, I decided to leave that for when the holidays get closer and create something that is much more realistic for our family. I grabbed the same plain white plates we use every day, a pretty napkin, and a simple, natural table runner that coordinates with the wood table we built a few years ago instead of competing with it.

For the centerpiece I didn’t spend a single penny; I went outside to my front yard and clipped branches from a big tree with gorgeous green leaves. I scattered a single leaf at each place setting to add a bit of color and make each spot at the table feel special. The only other thing I added was two white candles for a warm glow while we dine. I love that rather than feeling fancy and untouchable, this table feels like anyone can join us at any time to share a meal and spend time together. I didn’t spend any money to create it, and as the leaves on that tree begin to change, I will probably bring some new branches in to watch as autumn shows off all of its beautiful colors.

I hope this inspires you to not feel overwhelmed with creating perfection or something spectacular in your home. Use what you have available to you and make it work beautifully for your family. Enjoy more moments together eating caramel apples and carving pumpkins and sitting around bonfires this fall. I hope you enjoy this lovely season as much as I do!

You have so many great, classic pieces to just throw together such pretty table! It looks pretty and inviting, but I really noticed the textures and finishes of what you DID choose, and your table and chairs more!

Who wants to go shopping with me?! Well, virtuall Who wants to go shopping with me?!

Well, virtually... but I promise it will still be fun! I took a trip to a store I've never been to before and found some of the prettiest decor for such a good deal at @tuesdaymorning. #ad After all the snow we've had the last few weeks, getting out of the house and putting real clothes on for a solo shopping trip felt like such a treat!

A few of my favorite finds were: an extra-long lumbar pillow for my sofa, beautiful black textured bowls that I can't decide if I want to actually use in my kitchen or decorate with, a bouquet of dried greenery, and a new dog bed for Remington. I will be sharing how I styled these items on the blog next week, so stay tuned!

Swipe to see video of my shopping trip and all that you can find at a Tuesday Morning near you! Do you have a store close to you? Have you been before? Let me know in the comments!

Later this week: sharing a home decor shopping trip to a store I’ve never been to before, photographing my office (just wait till you see how big of a difference adding some shelves in here made), unboxing tons of new spring items for @lovegrowswildmarket, and adding some artwork to this blank wall!

Which are you most excited to see? P.S. still absolutely obsessed with the new dining chairs 😍

• blackout curtains so he can sleep in on weekends
• a new darker paint color
• somewhere to charge all his devices

I think I can handle that! This room is quite a challenge with the small size & layout, but I think we’ve come up with a game plan to make it more functional and much more “him”.

Once I catch up on all my current projects and design work, I’m excited to dive into making this space perfect for him! P.S. where did my little boy go that wanted Thomas the Train as the theme in his bedroom? 🥺

One of the biggest challenges in this space was finding the right size furniture to maximize the small space & functionality without sacrificing design. She wanted to keep the house light, bright and airy while still feeling warm & cozy, and this feels like the right balance with soft whites & grays paired with wood tones & natural fibers.

You can get all the details on this MASSIVE renovation & all the decor sources on the blog!

Now that the snow is almost melted, I can’t help but daydream about what I’m going to plant this year, dinners out on the deck, and naps under the shade of the gazebo.
