Today is finally the big day! I’m ready to give you a tour of my newly decorated, lighter and brighter, super cute living room!
To be honest with you, this room was quite the challenge. It took a few tears being shed, a couple late nights questioning my design choices, and lots of paint to get this room headed in the right direction, but I’m happy with the progress I’ve made. It’s still not as perfect as I would like it to be, but I think it’s important to document my progress and share it with you guys. As most of you probably know, a home is NEVER finished. It’s always a work in progress, so for now I’ll forget about all the doors and trim I want to paint white and the furniture I would like to upgrade, and enjoy the space I’ve worked hard on for the past few months. Plus, I’m TOTALLY itching to get started on my office makeover!
To give you a full tour of the space, I have TONS of pictures to show you. So instead of stopping in between each photo to give you all the details, I’m going to keep quiet and give you an uninterrupted tour of the living room. You can find a full list of all the makeover details including project tutorials and shopping lists HERE. Are you ready for this??

So there’s the tour! I love spending time in our living room now, and can’t wait to hear what you guys think! Be sure to read my living room details post to see the project tutorials and shopping list!

You did a GREAT job! Love everything! My favorites are the tv stand & the photo arrangement over the couch. You are a talented lady!
Thank you, Cheryl!! You are too sweet. It’s definitely a learn-as-you-go process!
I often wonder if people really decorate and live in the rooms you see in magazines. They seem so perfect and frankly, out of reach in terms of doing it yourself. Obviously, you have challenged my view! The room is gorgeous and has not only tons of character but a “I can live here” feeling as well. Congrats on a great project (or projects since I know many were completed in order to bring the room together!).
I couldn’t think of a better compliment I could receive. Thank you, Susan! That’s exactly the way I wanted it to feel… beautifully decorated but still cozy and livable. If I photographed the room with the pillows all over the floor and Matchbox cars covering the coffee table, that would probably be more realistic for our family, but I figured I’d tidy it up to make it pretty for the blog. ๐ Thank you so much for stopping by to check out the room!
Oh my gosh LIz. It’s GORGEOUS!!! Come do my Family Room. PLEASE. ๐
Come hang out with my awesome blog friend on the West coast for awhile, you say? Okay, twist my arm! Let’s do it!
Beautiful! I love the lights on either side of the tv and the gallery wall is awesome. Great job!
Thank you, Kat!! I couldn’t decide what to do around the TV, but I think those lights fit perfectly! Thanks for stopping by to check out the makeover!
Your living room looks great. I especially like the painted cabinet turned tv stand and those awesome hanging lights. I’ve been searching for a ladder like yours. The shutters and wreath are great projects too.
Thank you, Elizabeth!! It’s taken awhile to pull all these DIY projects together, but I’m so happy with the results! Thanks for stopping by!
So many beautiful details, Liz! But my favorite part is probably still the dresser to TV armoire makeover. Such a transformation of the entire room, though! The blogger in me just can’t help wonder how long it must have taken you to edit all those photos! ๐
Haha! Um… probably 3 episodes of Real Housewives, 2 cups of coffee, and maybe a nap or two in between. This blogging gig is rough! ๐ Thanks so much for stopping by to see the room!
I love what you’ve done with the space, Liz!!!! It’s so bright and cozy! My favorite parts are your gallery wall and TV stand!! Can’t wait for the source list!!
You’re the best, Selene! Thank you for all your sweet comments!! You can join me for a cup of coffee in my new living room anytime. ๐
It’s beautiful! Great job, Liz! I love it!!!
Thank you so much for stopping by to check out my living room! You’re too sweet. : )
Hope you’re having a great week, Erika!
You did an amazing job! First, I love that you started with what could have been my living room. When I see pictures like your “afters” in magazines, it’s easy for me to think that they probably started with something much fancier than my drab living room. You just proved me wrong. My favorite thing is the collage over you couch. But you also made that blonde piano look good. And that can be a challenge. You just inspired me to give my living room a shot. Sometime. After I get do all the other things I’ve been planning. ๐
That piano was definitely a challenge! It is a family heirloom from my husband’s side, and he made me swear I would never touch it with paint! That was a very difficult promise to make. ๐
And I’m so glad to hear that you enjoyed seeing my “before” photos… there was a whole lot of gray going on in the room! Have fun tackling your living room, and I’d love to hear how it’s going!
Wow, it looks so great! I love it all but my favorite things are the wooden arrow on the wall, (did you make it?), and the hanging lights!
Tania
Yes, I did make that arrow! It was really simple to do using an old pallet. Here’s the tutorial: https://lovegrowswild.com/2014/04/diy-wood-pallet-arrow/
Thanks so much for stopping by, Tania!
Love how this turned out Liz! It’s so calming and feels like it’s a relaxing space. I love that!
You are too sweet, Rebecca! It took a lot of late nights and stress to get it to this point, but I sure do enjoy relaxing in it now! You’re welcome to come relax with me anytime! ๐
Love the changes! Your gallery wall will always be one of my favs! And the fireplace is so sweet!
What a compliment coming from you! That gallery wall is definitely one of my favorite parts of the room. ๐ Thanks for stopping by, Taryn!
I read your intro… stating that you questioned your design choices and it still not being perfect… I must say, that it is absolute perfection! I say this because all I see is a space that you poured your soul into and that makes it a space that is filled with love. KUDOS and BRAVO! You did an amazing job.
I couldn’t ask for a better compliment on this room! Wow, thank you for the kind words!! This space is definitely filled with my heart and soul. ๐
Liz I LOVE it!! want to come help me finish mine with all the little touches?
Um… yes, please! How fun would that be? Anytime, Cheryl. ๐
So many gorgeous pieces to make a beautifully livable room! Love the gallery wall especially — wow!
Thank you SO much, Charlene! That gallery wall is right at the top of my list too!
The make-over looks wonderful! Love the use of hints of color. My favorite parts are the ladder, barn door shutters & the gallery wall … Of which I’ve have a bunch of pallet wood I’m going to use to try my hand at the arrow and shutters. Thanks for including the tutorials and a look inside your home.
Thank you, Natalie! Color is hard for me… I’m so drawn to neutrals, but love the little pops of color in the room! Have fun creating with your pallet wood… I bet you’ll come up with some amazing things!
very pretty!!! lovin the old shutters!!! xoxooxo Christine from Little Brags
Thank you so much, Christine!!
Really beautiful transformation of your living room. I absolutely adore the 2 hanging lamps by the TV and the TV stand you painted white is to die for! really beautiful ๐
Kristy @ 3 Peppers
Aww, thank you, Kristy!! I was like a kid on Christmas when we hung up those pendant lights!
What a gorgeous room – love all the beautiful details – from the wreath ( gorgeous ) to that ladder – and everything in between –
Just beautiful !
Thank you SO much, Suzan! That wreath is one of my favorite projects!! So glad to have you stop by!
What a great space you have! I love the light and clean look for everything. I love the feeling of de-cluttering a space. Found your blog through Liz Marie’s blog, will be following. Thanks for sharing and have a great day. ๐
Hey Debra! I’m just thrilled to have you here! I completely agree about loving light and de-cluttered spaces. It just feels good to walk into a room like that! Looking forward to learning more about you!
That is absolutely gorgeous!!! Where did u find the tv stand? Was it a garage sale/antique store find that you transformed?
Thank you so much, Amber!! The TV stand was actually part of a furniture set we inherited from a family member. I love when I hit the antique furniture jackpot like that! But I’ve definitely seen similar pieces at antique/thrift stores as well.
All I saw was the blanket ladder… I’ve been wanting one for FOREVER!!!!
(Just kidding, I saw all of the other pictures too. It looks so great!)
Runt
Me too!! I was so excited to check that off my “must-make” list! Thanks for stopping by! ๐
i have to say I LOVE seeing this – I also have original stained wood trim and doors, and i think even the same floors, unless yours are new? I can NEVER find any inspirational photos online of other homes with stained trim, and picking paint colors was a bear for me, because I had nothing to compare to!!! your home is BEAUTIFUL, and I think eventually all the “white trim people” will start to feel kind of unoriginal…right? I love your decor style, you have done a lovely job creating a bright, unique and serene living space!
Hey Julie! Yes, the floors are original, and it definitely is getting fewer and farther between to see wood like this in homes now! Although I do dream of all white trim in a house someday, I really like the wall color we chose paired with the wood tones. You’re right, it is difficult to pick!
Is there a tutorial on how to make the white wreath?
Beautiful job in your LR makeover!
Absoluetely! Here’s the coffee filter wreath tutorial: https://lovegrowswild.com/2014/02/coffee-filter-wreath/
Enjoy!
