I’m always searching for new chicken recipes, but this is one I go back to time and time again. My Honey Mustard Breaded Chicken is sweet, savory, and super flavorful! You can guarantee this will be a dinner idea your whole family will love!

My husband, Jeremy, grew up raising cattle, so of course his favorite choice of meat is beef. That boy would probably eat beef morning, noon, and night if I let him, but fortunately I do all the cooking around here so I try to lean our protein choices to the healthier side. Even though he may not, his waistline and cholesterol thanks me. Chicken is always a popular favorite in my house, but sometimes after making so many chicken recipes, I get stuck in a chicken rut. Is that a thing, a chicken rut? I get bored of the same old chicken and have a hard time coming up with something different to try. That’s when I turn to this recipe: Honey Mustard Breaded Chicken.
It’s one of those recipes I always forget about and then when it’s down to the wire before dinnertime and I have little heathens at my table banging their forks (not really), a lightbulb turns on and I remember this simple, flavorful, incredible recipe. And after we eat this tasty meal I promise myself to never forget it again!
The prep work for this recipe is pretty simple. First you mix together a combination of yummy spices and seasonings with bread crumbs to give the chicken the perfect crispy coating. I typically use the regular old breadcrumbs I keep in my pantry, but using panko breadcrumbs is an awesome substitution! It adds tons of crispy, crunchy goodness.

Then I mix together some Dijon mustard and honey and slather it all over the chicken. Next is a quick dip in the breadcrumb coating, and then the chicken sizzles in a skillet until the outside is deeply golden brown and crispy and the inside is perfectly cooked, moist, and tender. It doesn’t get any better than this folks! The savory spices balance out the sweet honey mustard, and the flavor is absolutely amazing! This is one chicken recipe you will never get tired of!

Honey Mustard Breaded Chicken
4 boneless, skinless chicken breast halves
4 tablespoons Dijon mustard
2 tablespoons honey
2/3 cup dry breadcrumbs
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon seasoned salt
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon dried thyme
1/2 teaspoon paprika
2 tablespoons canola oil
2 tablespoons butter
In a small bowl, combine the mustard and honey and set aside. In a shallow dish, combine the breadcrumbs and seasonings and set aside. Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add the oil and butter. Pound the chicken breast halves to 1/4 inch thickness and brush both sides with the honey mustard. Coat the chicken in breadcrumbs and cook for 3-4 minutes on each side or until a meat thermometer reads 170 degrees.
Serves 4
– Serve chicken along with rice and steamed vegetables or pasta and a salad.

Sounds delicious (and I am a sufferer of “chicken rut” so completely understand) think I’ll bake it though as I am trying to reduce our waistlines a bit!
