I have to admit that of all the decorating I do and posts I create all year long, the ones for the Christmas season are my absolute favorite, and the time has come to start sharing my holiday home with you! Follow along as 16 bloggers take you on a tour of their homes this holiday season, sharing decorating ideas and entertaining tips that are sure to inspire!

My hope for this series is that you find tons of inspiration on ways to decorate your home and create long-lasting memories this holiday season, and also that you leave feeling the love and warmth this time of year brings. I wish I could open up my home to each and every one of you so we could bake cookies together and sit around my kitchen table with cups of hot cocoa, but I hope that by sharing these little tours of our farmhouse you’re able to feel a part of my family… because after 5 1/2 years of writing this blog, that is exactly how I feel about you!

Since it still feels a little bit early to completely deck the halls, I started decorating in our kitchen, which is where my family probably gathers most this time of year anyway! With two hungry, growing boys, there is never a shortage of good food around here. : )

Our Fall Kitchen

September is such a beautiful time of year here in Indiana. The sun still shines warm and bright during the day, but the evenings start to get cooler each night and beg for us to open up the windows and let in the crisp autumn air. It instantly puts me in the mood to start cozying up the farmhouse for fall, and this week that’s exactly what I did. With a fresh breeze blowing in through the windows and the scent of a spiced pumpkin candle drifting all throughout the house, I got to work on bringing this new season into our home. Yes friends, it’s that time of year. I hope you’re getting as excited as I am!

Softening the Farmhouse

You know how little girls like to play dress up with their dolls? Or how mothers with daughters get to buy cute, ruffly dresses and bows for them to wear? Well, I’m a mom of boys, and the definition of playing dress up around here involves super hero costumes with masks and a weapon. Still cute, but not quite the same. ūüôā

That’s part of the reason I think I love interior design and decorating my farmhouse so much. It allows me to be creative and try different things, and I’ve noticed that my style lately has leaned more towards a much more feminine, softer vintage farmhouse feel. I adore the industrial look of hard metal and dark rustic wood, but at this stage of my life (newly single) my heart is drawn more to soft lace and ruffles and faded wood tones and light, bright white spaces. I’ve noticed that my design choices have been slowly softening our home, and I love the blend of feminine romance and vintage farmhouse that is happening.

I think it all started when I designed my master bedroom…

Farmhouse Christmas Kitchen + Gingerbread Bundt Cake

The other day I was working on decorating our kitchen a little bit for the holidays, and I realized that this time last year we were still living with our old kitchen and just about to completely tear everything down almost to the studs. It feels like forever since we were living through that month long renovation with construction dust everywhere and eating microwave dinners more times than I want to count, but it is such an amazing feeling to have this beautiful space now, especially around the holidays.

I’ve been doing a ton¬†of baking in here lately, and I have an amazing Gingerbread Bundt Cake recipe that I want to share with you today. It is so simple to whip up¬†and makes a beautiful centerpiece for your holiday table with very little effort! But first, let’s take a little tour around the kitchen…

Simple Farmhouse Fall Kitchen

Hi, sweet friends. Today¬†is an exciting day here at our little farmhouse! I’m sharing the first glimpse of our home dressed up for fall (which is quite possibly my favorite season of them all), and I get to introduce something new to you today that I think you’re really going to love. In the past, I would spend a ton of time and a small fortune on our seasonal and holiday decorating, and after awhile it seemed to be more of a burden and headache than an enjoyable experience for our family. If you read this post I shared recently (and thank you if you did!), you already know that I’m trying to take a more simple approach to life and blogging¬†now¬†so that I can be a happier, less-stressed me. With this new mantra, I’ve decided to really cut back on the¬†holiday extravagance this year and focus on more simple, meaningful ways to welcome each new season into our home.

So instead of sharing one big, huge fall home tour with pumpkins spilling out of every crack and crevice of our farmhouse, I’m going to share¬†one¬†small space every¬†week or so with simple¬†and affordable decorating ideas that you can easily replicate in your home! And I even have several amazingly talented ladies joining me in¬†this simple holiday decorating series, so you will have TONS of inspiration to check out over the next few months! The¬†series is officially titled “Farmhouse Holiday Series”, and you can see all the women who are participating at the end of this post!¬†Sound like a plan, my loves?

Simply Summer Home Tour

A cold glass of sweet tea¬†sitting¬†on the kitchen table, a pile of flip flops by the front door, chairs gathered around a bonfire in the backyard, and sunshine flooding our windows…

I am thrilled to be part of the Simply Summer Home Tour with Nina Hendrick, Birch Lane and Country Living, and at the end of this post you’ll find¬†more inspiring ideas¬†from other bloggers on this tour.

Kitchen Makeover – Before & After

The beginning of 2016 started off with a bang in our house (literally), as we began renovations on our dated farmhouse kitchen. This was by far the biggest and most expensive project we’ve tackled in this house, and I carefully designed every single detail to give us a¬†functional, spacious, family-friendly kitchen on a budget that we could afford.

We opened up the wall between our kitchen and living room, which instantly made the kitchen feel so much bigger, brighter, and more open. We replaced all the cabinets, flooring, countertops, and lighting, and we even tore out the old chimney behind one¬†wall to make room for a large pantry cabinet. I’ve posted¬†about each step of our renovations over the last few months (you can see them all here!), but today I thought it would be fun to end our incredible kitchen makeover journey with some great before and after photos, which REALLY give you an idea of how far this little kitchen has come! It still shocks me how big this transformation was!

Let’s take a trip down memory lane…
