Apple Turnovers

Decorating our home and sharing that journey with you is one of my absolute favorite things to write about on the blog, but I still enjoy cooking and baking so much and miss coming up with recipes that my family loves and I think you will love as well. This year I’ve made it a goal to share more recipe posts on the blog again because as much as we adore looking at pretty spaces, we all have to cook for our families everyday, and I want to start sharing more of my favorite yummy recipes to make your job a little bit easier!

I’ve been going back through some of my earliest posts from over five years ago and decided to bring back some recipes that deserve a little extra spotlight since they were so good the first time around, and I only had about three followers back then to see the recipe originally… lol! These apple turnovers are the tastiest little pastries that are perfect for a sweet breakfast or even dessert. I use frozen puff pastry sheets to make them quickly and easily, and the homemade apple cinnamon filling is absolutely to die for. They bake up nice and puffy and golden in the oven and get a drizzle of vanilla glaze over the top for a little extra sweetness. I think you are going to love these!

Honey Nut Rugelach

Christmas decorations are going up all around the farmhouse, and even though we haven’t quite made it to Thanksgiving yet, I can’t help looking forward to baking Christmas cookies and watching our favorite Christmas movies and helping the kiddos make their lists for Santa. I just love this time of year, and I want to enjoy it as long as I can!

Every Christmas I always make sugar cookie cut-outs with this fail-proof recipe, and then I’ll bake a few other types of cookies like my snowball cookies, molasses cookies¬†or frosted sugar cookie bars. This year I wanted to try something a little different, and I settled on a recipe for Honey Nut Rugelach, which are the most tender, flaky little pastries wrapped with a sweet honey walnut filling and sprinkled with cinnamon sugar on top. They are so delicious and make the perfect, little holiday cookies!

I think what I love about them the most is they remind me of an old family recipe with the flavors of honey and walnut, and it’s such a comforting smell when they’re baking up in the oven. This rugelach recipe takes a little more preparation and effort, but I promise you the end result will be very much worth it! Crunchy and sweet… tender and soft… and absolutely delicious!

Farmhouse Christmas Kitchen + Gingerbread Bundt Cake

The other day I was working on decorating our kitchen a little bit for the holidays, and I realized that this time last year we were still living with our old kitchen and just about to completely tear everything down almost to the studs. It feels like forever since we were living through that month long renovation with construction dust everywhere and eating microwave dinners more times than I want to count, but it is such an amazing feeling to have this beautiful space now, especially around the holidays.

I’ve been doing a ton¬†of baking in here lately, and I have an amazing Gingerbread Bundt Cake recipe that I want to share with you today. It is so simple to whip up¬†and makes a beautiful centerpiece for your holiday table with very little effort! But first, let’s take a little tour around the kitchen…
