The big football game of the year is getting closer, and I’ve got another recipe to kick-off your Super Bowl party! (pun intended) My Savory Chex Mix is the perfect snack to munch on while cheering for your team and of course, voting for your favorite commercials!
Isn’t that everyone’s favorite part of Super Bowl?
This classic recipe has been a family favorite of ours for as long as I can remember. Every time I visit my Mom, there’s always a bowl of Chex Mix waiting for me! When we’re together, we spend a lot of time gathered in the kitchen cooking our favorite foods… We munch on Chex Mix and laugh too much and make the best memories together.
Oh yeah, and we sip on the world’s best Bloody Mary’s made by my Mom… I’m telling you, Chex Mix and Bloody Mary’s are a match made in Heaven! I feel like it’s my duty to impart that knowledge onto you… You’d be missing out on life without it : )
A savory mix of Worcestershire and seasonings adds the perfect flavor to the cereal, pretzels, and nuts. And you can easily customize the recipe however you’d like: add in more Worcestershire for extra saltiness, use a combination of different cereals, or add in bagel chips.
This recipe also makes the perfect treat for your child’s holiday parties at school! Every Mom always brings cookies and cupcakes that pump the kids full of sugar, but a few years ago I had a room Mom ask me to bring a savory treat instead, and this Chex Mix was gone before any of the sweets!
I’m going to package up some Chex Mix in cute little Valentine’s wrappers for my son’s party coming up in a few weeks!
Savory Chex Mix
8 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons Worcestershire
1 1/2 teaspoons seasoned salt
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon onion powder
9 cups cereal (Rice Chex, Corn Chex, Wheat Chex, or Crispix)
1 cup salted mixed nuts
1 cup pretzels
Preheat oven to 250 degrees. Add the butter to a roasting pan and place in oven to melt. Once melted, add Worcestershire, seasoned salt, garlic powder, and onion powder. Stir to combine. Add cereal, nuts, and pretzels to the pan and gently stir to coat the cereal mixture in the seasoned butter. Cook at 250 degrees for 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes. Remove from the oven and spread mix onto a layer of newspaper to cool and soak up any extra liquid. Store in an airtight container.
Enjoy!
P.S. I’m linking up to some awesome blogs… check out where I party here!
