Farmhouse Christmas Entryway

A beautiful farmhouse entryway decorated for the holidays!

So many changes have been made to our little farmhouse since last Christmas, and it’s been both a challenge and a joy to have a new, fresh space to decorate this year for the holidays. One of my favorite little areas in our home is the entryway, complete with an antique armoire and mirror, coat hooks and a sweet, little bench, and the front door of my dreams. I recently partnered with Gordmans to create a festive, yet simple entryway for the holidays, and I am so excited to show you how this space turned out!

A beautiful farmhouse entryway decorated for the holidays!

Since we don’t have a fireplace in this house, I decided to hang some of our stockings (which I made out of white burlap a few years ago) on the coat hooks. I set out a couple adorable Christmas throw pillows from Gordmans on the bench and hung a simple flocked wreath with pinecones on the front door. Those pillows were less than $18, and I just love them!

I had a Gordmas store close to me when we lived back in Illinois, and I used to shop there all the time. They have so many different types of items from home decor, to kitchen supplies, to clothes, shoes and more, and the prices are always super affordable. I was thrilled to find one only about an hour away from me here in Indiana! I could have walked through the aisles all day, especially now that they have all their holiday decor out.

Just to the right of the coat hooks sits my antique armoire, and I always have a little too much fun decorating this piece for the holidays. I went with a simple winter white and green theme this year, filling the shelves with fuzzy white pillows, a soft knit blanket, stacks of presents wrapped simply in white paper and twine, and a forest of white porcelain trees I found at Gordmans. I hung a lush evergreen wreath on the open cabinet door and placed a snow-covered evergreen garland, also from Gordmans, across the top of the armoire. I love all the different shapes and textures in this little vignette, and since I stayed away from classic Christmas reds, I can keep the armoire this way all winter long if I want to!

Even the littlest changes can make a big impact in a small space like this, and I try to make our entryway feel extra cozy and inviting during the holidays since this is the first thing our friends and family see when they visit the farmhouse. What do you guys think… would you want to hang out and drink some hot cocoa with me here?

Oh wow! I love it all, especially the armoire. Another thing that I ‘need’ is those Gordman’s trees. They are gorgeous! You have much talent, so I am glad you get as much fun out of decorating as your talent shows! Great Christmas pillows too.

It looks great! As I was looking through the link of your summer home tour. I noticed the cute blue and white accent pillow on your bed. Did you make that? I didn’t see a source for it on the source list you included. Also, the same question for the similar pillows on your previous couch.

Hi there! I just stumbled across this on Pinterest. Your home is beautiful! I too have a farmhouse and have windows with oil rubbed bronze pencil diamond grills. I have been looking for an entryway door like yours for years that has the diamond grills. Can please tell me where you purchased yours? I would be SO grateful. ? Thank you! Will definitely be coming back to read more on your site.

HOW TO PAINT WICKER FURNITURE:

The perfect example of design on a budget. I feel The perfect example of design on a budget. I feel like kids go through so many phases of what they do and don’t like as they get older, and we’re often changing the boys’ bedrooms to make them function better as they grow out of each phase (way too quickly, I might add 🥺).

I’m a big believer in teaching kids to be mindful of taking care of their belongings and their home from the time they are little, which is why I don’t worry so much about light colored couches in the living room or white walls throughout the house. BUT kids are also kids, and I design their bedrooms with a much more frugal budget so that if anything gets old & worn or needs to be replaced/repurposed... I don’t sweat the money that was spent!

In this room we used inexpensive pieces from IKEA, Target and Walmart to create a cozy teenage boy’s room, but it definitely doesn’t skimp on style. We’re planning a little makeover again in this room soon, and I’m excited to show you what we have up our sleeves for my now 15 year old... good grief, where does the time go?

You can find all the details of this room here:

A weird side angle of the living room as proof tha A weird side angle of the living room as proof that a giant TV does in fact exist in here, and we are just a normal family who loves movie nights snuggled up on the couch with the dog & football Sundays with all the yummy food during the game (one benefit of having an open concept living/dining room). I purposely placed the TV in a spot where it isn’t the main focal point of the room and designed the space to draw your eye to other much prettier things like the big picture window just to the left of this photo.

Want to try something like this in your living room? See if you can arrange the furniture so the TV isn’t the main focal point in the room, but still has visibility from the majority of your seating. Try making the focus a fireplace, window, or create a gallery wall with pretty artwork if you don’t have any standout architectural elements!

Just a little tidbit of advice I’ve learned & loved & wanted to pass along... Happy Monday, sweet friends!
