Instagram post 18008431057266628 A few years ago when I didn’t have a lot of money to spend on Christmas decor, I decided to be crafty and make my own clay ornaments for our tree. They turned out beautiful, and I love having these sweet handmade pieces to use year after year. I’m finally sharing this highly requested tutorial on the blog today, and I hope you feel inspired to create something from the heart and handmade, whether you use them in your own home or give them to someone as a gift. This project is so inexpensive with just 3 ingredients you probably already have in your pantry and would be a great activity to do with kids.

Instagram post 18085409203189438 Sneaking in a new blog post before I leave for vacation this weekend! I wanted to show you the last few touches of Christmas I added in our living room + dining room, and I’m so smitten with how these little vignettes came together. You’ll definitely want to check out the blog post to see where I found these little galvanized metal houses and the cutest white Santa mugs for a steal! And do you spy that new mirror? 😍

Instagram post 17936627878318669 Here’s a little confession... I dislike the word “tablescape”. I had never heard of it until I started blogging, but when I began seeing others create these elaborate, over-the-top table decorations for the holidays I felt like surely I was supposed to be doing that too. Huge floral arrangements, a million candles, 5 layers of plates, fancy linens... they all looked absolutely stunning. But in the reality of my everyday life and our family, none of those “tablescapes” I was seeing or creating felt right. So I scaled back from what I felt like I was supposed to do because of my job and focused on what I would create naturally for when my family comes over to celebrate Christmas. Something I think you could be inspired by, not intimidated by. I want an unobstructed view of the sweet faces across the table from me, while still making our guests feel special, so here’s what I did last year... Our nice dishes with a cloth napkin at each place setting and a mini tree in an old bucket as the centerpiece. Two candles, the same table runner I use all year long, and a clipping off our evergreen tree with a name tag tied on for each person. It was simple, but it was beautiful. And I hope it inspires you!

Instagram post 18048027910202170 It’s beginning to look and feel like Christmas in our little farmhouse now that I finally have some presents wrapped and under the tree! I’m trying to squeeze in as many Christmas activities as I can with the boys since this December is especially hectic for us, and at the top of our list currently is: going to see Christmas lights, a Christmas movie night, and baking Mom’s famous sugar cookies!

I’d love to hear your favorite Christmas activities + traditions that we can add to our list too! What is a must for it to feel like Christmas for you? Let me know in the comments!

P.S. isn’t the simplicity of this tree from Christmas past in my bedroom just dreamy? | link in my profile: https://lovegrowswild.com/2016/11/simple-farmhouse-christmas-bedroom/
Instagram post 18035374093231440 Sure, we only have one bathroom to share in this tiny, cozy farmhouse of ours... but we DO have two huge evergreens just outside the bathroom that make it really convenient to grab + decorate with fresh greenery this time of year. 😍 All about perspective!

Instagram post 17856314593656613 I miss this church pew bench so much, but sometimes in order to let something new into our lives (or home) we have to let go of something no longer necessary. We built the bench entirely out of an old door that was in our farmhouse, and it has been one of my most popular tutorials on the blog ever since. We left the hinges and doorknob on for character, and it even had the most perfect white chippy paint on the sides!! You can find the tutorial for the bench here, but first make sure you swipe to see a photo of baby Remy when he first came home with us just before Christmas. 😍🐶😭 (link in my profile) https://lovegrowswild.com/2016/01/old-door-new-bench/
