The other day I was working on decorating our kitchen a little bit for the holidays, and I realized that this time last year we were still living with our old kitchen and just about to completely tear everything down almost to the studs. It feels like forever since we were living through that month long renovation with construction dust everywhere and eating microwave dinners more times than I want to count, but it is such an amazing feeling to have this beautiful space now, especially around the holidays.
I’ve been doing a ton of baking in here lately, and I have an amazing Gingerbread Bundt Cake recipe that I want to share with you today. It is so simple to whip up and makes a beautiful centerpiece for your holiday table with very little effort! But first, let’s take a little tour around the kitchen…
I’m all about simplicity when it comes to decorating and especially holiday decorating, and I love how just a few pops of red and green made our kitchen feel so cozy and festive. Now… let’s talk about that cake! I love making bundt cakes because they are so easy and look stunning because of the shape of the pan. Depending on the recipe, I usually just sprinkle a little bit of confectioners sugar on top and add a few simple garnishes around the plate!
The cake is soft and rich and flavorful and fills your kitchen with the smell of gingerbread while it bakes away in the oven. I hope you’ll give it a try this holiday season!
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons ground ginger
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- ½ teaspoon ground allspice
- ½ teaspoon ground cloves
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 16 tablespoons unsalted butter, at room temperature
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup molasses
- 3 eggs
- confectioners sugar, for garnish
- Preheat oven to 350ºF. Lightly grease and flour a bundt pan and set aside.
- In a medium bowl, combine the flour, spices, baking soda and salt. Whisk together until well combined and set aside.
- In a small bowl or measuring cup, stir together the buttermilk and vanilla extract and set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the sugars and butter using a hand or stand mixer until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes. Add the molasses and beat until combined. Then add the eggs and beat until combined.
- With the mixer on low, add ⅓ of the flour mixture and beat until combined. Then add ½ of the buttermilk mixture and beat until combined. Continue alternating the dry and wet ingredients and beat just until all the ingredients are fully incorporated. Pour the batter into the prepared bunt pan and tap the pan on a counter or table to remove any air bubbles.
- Bake for 50-60 minutes until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Cool on a rack for 1 hour before turning the cake out of the pan. Sprinkle with confectioners sugar and enjoy!

My, oh my, what a joyful difference a year makes. You must be over the moon to do your Christmas baking in this new kitchen. It’s looks so dreamy and festive. Happy Holidays and thank you for the gingerbread bundt cake recipe. Cheers, Ardith
I love the way you used natural greenery with just a pop of red in your kitchen. It looks so “Christmasy” .
It looks so beautiful and delicious Liz! Those juniper berries next to the cake and pomegranates! In love. Your kitchen gives me all the heart eyes!
beautiful kitchen…and cake. I love this series and have really enjoyed it. happy holidays!
This sounds delicious, and your food photos always make me wish that I had some of what you’re baking in front of me to taste! All the details like the cranberries spilling from the center of the cake, and the wreath of juniper around the cake stand really show how talented you are at what you do. I feel like I’m right there in your kitchen just after you’ve taken the cake out of the oven.
Stunning!! Did you buy your window wreaths Or assemble them yourself? Are they fresh or faux? Just lovely! Merry Christmas!
I am thinking about trying my hand at baking this gingerbread cake. I remember my mom baking this for Christmas when I was a little girl. I can almost smell the armor of ginger, pies and other cakes filling the house. Thanks for bringing such happy, loving, family memories by sharing this post.
