As a blogger and a Mom, photography is a big part of my life! I’m always taking photos of projects and recipes for my blog using my big DSLR camera, which I absolutely love. It produces beautiful quality images and has made such a difference in my photographs, but my big camera is bulky and not very convenient to carry around. When I’m at my son’s baseball games or at the park playing with the kids, I don’t want to lug around that heavy camera, so I find myself capturing all of life’s special moments either with my phone’s camera or not at all! I decided it was time to find a camera that had the convenience of a smart phone with the photo quality of a DSLR camera, and I finally found the perfect combination in a compact camera! The Samsung WB800F Smart Camera has all the features I was looking for like wi-fi connectivity and a 21x optical long zoom plus way more! So you’re probably wondering, what is a smart camera? I thought the same thing! With wi-fi connectivity, you can connect your digital camera directly to a wireless network. That means you can save photos directly to your computer while you shoot, email them wirelessly to your friends and family, or upload them to your favorite social media networks like Facebook or YouTube! How cool is that? You never have to worry about running out of storage space or remembering to bring your cable cord. Perfect for a busy Mommy like me!
I couldn’t wait to test out my new camera, and I opened it up as soon as I got home! The camera came with a battery, charger, strap, carrying case, and 8GB SD card. I was able to put the battery and SD card right in and start shooting! The camera is lightweight and the perfect size for carrying around with me.
And the cute little case that came with the camera makes it easy to bring wherever I go! It was so nice that I didn’t have to go buy a separate case to fit my new camera!
The first thing I wanted to do was check out the quality difference between photos taken with my phone and my camera.
Here is a photo of a gorgeous flower from my yard taken with my iPhone:
The photo is pretty and looks okay on my phone, but when I upload it to my computer and view it full size the photo is grainy and loses some of the detail. Definitely not blog-worthy!
Here is the same photo taken with my Samsung Smart Camera:
See the difference? The photo isn’t grainy like the other and keeps all that gorgeous detail in the flower petals. HUGE improvement!
When I’m working on projects for my blog, I like to share little sneak peeks on Facebook or Instagram, and with the wi-fi social sharing feature I can share photos straight from my camera to my social media!
The camera’s 3″ hybrid touch screen makes scrolling through the options a breeze, and I’m able to choose from all kinds of fun options. Did you know you can turn your smart phone into a remote viewfinder? Just download the Samsung Remote Viewfinder App, and you can preview the image, adjust camera settings, and zoom in and out all wirelessly from your phone! I can’t wait to try this feature out on our next family photo! I can capture the perfect shot and actually be in it!
I was able to snap some beautiful pictures of my little guy climbing his favorite tree and instantly share them on my Facebook page. This feature makes it so much easier to share our life with friends and family!
I took some of the photos in the camera’s Smart Auto mode, and they came out perfect with beautiful lighting and color. But what I absolutely love about this camera is the ability to switch to a manual setting, and I get to control the aperture, shutter speed, and more just like my DSLR camera! I’ll never end up with dark, underexposed pictures again!
I love the camera’s long zoom feature and couldn’t believe how far away I could shoot! I took this photo in our backyard… See the rose bush?
I took the same photo with the lens all the way zoomed in and could see the pretty roses starting to bloom! Isn’t that incredible? It was a very windy day when I shot this, but it still captured a gorgeous photo.
I love using filters on my photos, and now I can do that right on my camera! No more uploading photos to the computer and using photo editing software! Check out some of the filters the smart camera has like sketch, retro, cartoon, oil painting, and vignetting:
Do you like to make collages with your photos? You can do that on this camera too! I used the split shot feature to catch some on my son’s many silly faces. He’s such a ham.
The Samsung smart camera has so many awesome features that makes capturing and sharing our memories easier than ever before! I can’t wait for Summer to start so I can put this fun new toy to good use!
