Happy Friday everyone!
There are some very exciting things coming up on Love Grows Wild soon, and I’ve been a busy bee getting everything ready to share with you! I’m so excited I can hardly keep it all a secret!! Let’s just say you definitely do NOT want to miss anything next week : )
Today I have a very simple project to share with you that began at my favorite thrifty place to shop: Goodwill! Every time I’m in town, I try to swing by the thrift stores to see if I can uncover any hidden gems to decorate my house with. When you’re on a budget, shopping thrift stores is a great way to decorate!
One particular day while shopping at Goodwill with one of my blog buddies, I found an oval mirror that was pretty outdated, but had great makeover potential.
I loved the feminine, curvy lines around the mirror and the beautiful details in the flowers. However, I was not loving the color! It was antique white and the little flowers around the mirror were painted pink. This would probably be adorable the way it is in a little girl’s room, but I wanted it to have a more fresh, modern look.
I started my simple makeover by unscrewing the frame from the mirror to make it easier to paint. Then I gave the frame a few coats of bright white spray paint, making sure to spray in all the detailed crevices around the frame.
After the frame was fully dry, I screwed the mirror back together and set it up in my bedroom next to my jewelry display. Much better now! It looks beautiful next to my Cork Board Necklace Organizer!
The white paint gave it a fresh, clean look that fits right in with my decor. The neutral color also allows me to move it anywhere around the house when I feel like changing things up!
Even with everything painted a solid color, you can still see the pretty details of the flowers. They’re still feminine but not so “little girl”.
Another thrifty piece I’ve updated is this old picture frame that I turned into a tray. It has a beautiful decorative edge that was bright gold, but I gave it a fresh look by painting it white. Anytime you have mismatched or outdated decor, you can easily coordinate everything by painting it all one color. A couple cans of spray paint is much cheaper than buying all new decor!
Just ask my husband. I think he’s going to start calling me the “crazy spray paint lady.” : )
I also placed a piece of patterned scrapbook paper under the glass to dress the tray up. I can easily update the tray when I change my decor by switching out the paper or using a pretty fabric instead.
The tray holds some of my favorite jewelry so it is easy to grab when I’m getting ready in the morning. It’s also a great place to “de-bling” at the end of the day!
A small, white bowl (also a Goodwill find!) holds some of my bracelets on the tray as well.
I hope I’ve inspired you to do some thrift shopping this weekend and get your hands dirty with some spray paint! It’s a form of therapy, I swear!
And don’t forget to stay tuned next week for some BIG announcements!!! Have a wonderful weekend!
P.S. I’m sharing this post at some awesome link parties… Check them out HERE!
Your mirror is beautiful! I would love to de-bling at this jewelry station every night! Great job!

Very nice transformation! In my area, Goodwill stores are getting a little pricey – what’s with that?
Happy Monday from the enchanted oven,
Lisa
Beautiful! I love thrifted finds! I found you at Making the World Cuter– thanks for sharing!

It’s amazing what a difference a couple coats of white spray paint made. I’ve got to start doing some more thrifting 🙂
I think that your dresser “scape” is lovely! The mirror looks wonderful with its paint, and the picture-frame-turned-tray is a great idea! I may have to borrow that one!
