Recipe type: Dessert
Serves: 8
INGREDIENTS
  • Filling:
  • 6 cups strawberries, hulled and quartered
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • Topping:
  • ¾ cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 8 tablespoons unsalted butter, cold and cut into cubes
  • ¾ cup oats
  • ½ cup pecans, finely chopped
  • optional: vanilla ice cream, for serving
INSTRUCTIONS
  1. Preheat oven to 350ºF. In a large bowl, combine the strawberries, sugar, and cornstarch. Stir until fruit is fully coated and pour into a 9" pie plate or a 9x9" baking dish.
  2. For the topping, add the flour, sugar, cinnamon, and salt into a food processor and pulse to combine. Add the butter and pulse until small crumbs of butter are evenly distributed throughout the mixture. Then add the oats and pecans and pulse once or twice to combine. Sprinkle the topping evenly over the fruit and set the pie plate on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Bake the crisp for 55-60 minutes, until the fruit filling is bubbling and the topping is golden brown. Cool 10-15 minutes before serving warm with scoops of vanilla ice cream.
NOTES
- If you don't have a food processor, you can also use a pastry cutter or fork to mix the butter into the flour mixture.
