I Bought the Pottery Barn Dresser Dupe and It’s…

Pottery Barn Dresser Dupe

Since swapping all our bedrooms around, I was on the hunt for a new tall dresser that would fit in the only open corner of my bedroom. I found one in the most unlikely of places with beautiful wood grain and the perfect light oak driftwood color, and it looks very similar to the Pottery Barn Sausalito dresser… but $1600 less! Is this Pottery Barn dupe too good to be true?

I hit the order button and crossed my fingers that it would look as good as it does online and not be a flimsy piece of junk for the price tag. I’m beyond pleased to report back that it’s sturdy, great quality, and the exact color/texture I was hoping for. Let’s dive into the details…

The dresser arrive in two separate boxes on two separate days, which confused me at first and made me panic that I accidentally purchased multiple dressers. I hadn’t – they just shipped one box with dresser itself and one box with the drawers. Looking back at the website, it does say it ships separately in two boxes, but just be aware so you don’t get as confused as I was. I can’t imagine how heavy the box would be if they put it all in one because this dresser is SOLID.

The drawer slides come pre-assembled, which saves some time. It took two of us about 1 ½ hours to assemble the dresser itself and another 15-20 minutes installing the drawers. The drawer slides are different than the ones I’m used to, and they were not the easiest to work with. But once we got the drawers set in place, they work great. They have an interlocking safety mechanism that only allows one drawer to open at a time as well as a safety strap to prevent the dresser from tipping over.

They also have a 6-drawer horizontal dresser and a stunning nightstand in this same wood tone and finish, and I would 100% order the nightstands if I didn’t already have ones I love.

THE VERDICT

This Pottery Barn dresser dupe is sturdy, heavy, and well-built for under $300. The driftwood oak finish and heavy wood grain are stunning, and the shape is classic and timeless. Definitely recommend 2 people for assembly, and my only negative review would be the design of the drawer slides and how difficult it was to get them set correctly. Overall very happy with this purchase and would buy again for other bedrooms.

PRO TIP

I think the 6-drawer version of this dresser would be the perfect storage piece as a buffet in a dining room or a console table in an entryway or living room.

THE TRUTH

Full disclosure – yes, I styled this dresser with pretty things for photos because I wanted to show off how beautiful it is. But I’m always completely honest with you, and I’ll be putting my little TV back up there asap… because how else am I supposed to catch up on Real Housewives at night? 😊
