I’m slowly and intentionally working on my new master bedroom – taking my time to make decisions and choose things that feel most like me. You all know I love a creamy white wall, but it’s the balance of other materials and textures that create depth and interest in a room. One of my absolute favorite purchases for this space so far has been a rug I’ve had in my cart literally forever. It’s dark and moody and brings a ton of character that this room full of quiet neutrals desperately needs. In fact, it’s the darkest rug I’ve ever had in this house, and I’ll even go as far as to say it’s also the best quality rug I’ve ever purchased. Durable. Non-shedding. Easy to keep clean. And most important, the corners have not curled up – the biggest pet peeve of mine. It grounds the room and brings balance to the light white walls, and I’m sharing all the details with you today!

It’s so hard to shop for rugs online without seeing them in person, so I made sure to edit these photos minimally to give an accurate representation of what the colors look like in real life. This is the Loloi Layla rug in the color Olive/Charcoal, which is a longstanding favorite with over 9,500 reviews on Amazon. You can get it as a runner or area rug in various sizes, and it comes in other colors as well – I had a hard time deciding between this one, Antique/Moss, and Taupe/Stone. Up close, it has a lot of olive, black, and cream with just a touch of salmon throughout the vintage-inspired pattern. But overall it reads as a dark, muted olive-toned neutral with a beautiful antique appeal.
I have zero complaints about this rug so far, and I’ve had it for almost 6 months now. The only thing I will say is that I HIGHLY recommend using this specific rug pad underneath any rug in your home. You can read this post to find out why it’s the best out of any I’ve tried, but it will not only add cushion under your feet, but also keep it from sliding around. I know that no one wants to spend extra money on a rug pad, but the rug itself is actually so affordable, and I promise it’s worth every penny.
Up next, I ordered a new dresser that looks like a Pottery Barn dupe, and I might change out the curtains since I just hung ones I already had. After that, it’s time to pick out a few pieces of bedding and accessories to tie everything together and give it some finishing touches. I can’t wait to photograph this whole space for you to see. Any questions? Let me know!
