Happy Monday and Welcome to Love Grows Wild
1 Year Blog Anniversary Celebration!
I am so unbelievably excited that this week is finally here, and there are some FABULOUS surprises in store for you! I couldn’t even sleep last night knowing all the fun that’s going to happen this week! That being said, make sure you’re following Love Grows Wild so you don’t miss a second of the excitement! I’ve made it super easy for you… just click the links below!

Today I’m kicking off the celebration with a super fun Spring project. I decorated some plain wood letters with simple craft supplies like paint, scrapbook paper, and a few embellishments and came up with this adorable GROW word set:

How cute is that? It totally has me in the mood for Spring!
I started with a set of plain wood letters that I found at Wood Creations. I was introduced to this awesome company at the Build Your Blog Conference in Utah this past February and fell in love with the adorable wood letter sets they sell!

My letters arrived unfinished, already sanded down, and ready to be decorated. There was some sawdust left on the letters, so I gave them a light sanding and wiped them thoroughly to remove all the dust. I was so pleased with the quality of the wood and how substantial the letters were!

Next came the fun part… picking out the decorations! I spent way too long in the scrapbook paper aisle deciding which colors to go with, but in the end I choose this girly, spring-inspired color combo of pink and green!

I also picked up some white paint, pink glitter, and pink rhinestones while I was at the store. There are so many fun things you could use to decorate these letters! I had such a hard time choosing! The scrapbook aisle is a dangerous place for me to be : )

I started by painting all the wood pieces white. Imagine that… I think everything I decorate starts with a white coat of paint! I thought it would give everything a cohesive look once I added all the fun scrapbook papers. I applied a few coats using a foam brush and used a tiny painting brush to get inside all the little curves and creases of the letters.
Once the paint was dry, I decided which paper would go on the letters. I traced the letters on the back of each paper and cut out the letter outlines. I applied a layer of Mod Podge to each wooden letter and carefully placed the paper on top. Make sure to line up your edges well because the Mod Podge is not very forgiving once it sticks! I like to start at one end and slowly smooth the paper down. That way I get as few air bubbles as possible! After about 15 minutes of dry time, I applied another layer of Mod Podge on top of the paper to seal and protect it.

The letters looked super cute with the scrapbook paper, but I wanted to add a few finishing touches to really make them stand out! I wrapped some shimmery green ribbon I had around the G and tied a small bow.

I added a few pink rhinestones in different sizes to the R and W. They’re self adhesive, so it was very easy!

In place of the letter O was a sweet little flower, and there were three small holes drilled into the top of the flower. I took some bright pink wire and wrapped it around a pencil to make little curls to stick out of the holes. So cute!
There were two extra pieces that came with the flower: one went on the base of the flower pot and one went over the flower to add some dimension. I used pink and white scrapbook paper for the base of the flower and added pink glitter to the add-on pieces. I just applied a layer of Mod Podge and sprinkled on the glitter. Once it was dry I simply shook off the excess and poured it back into the container to use another time. It added a ton of fun and sparkle to the set!

I absolutely LOVE how this letter set turned out! It added just the touch of Spring I needed in my home!

I even had enough scrapbook paper left over to add a sweet little banner behind the letters. Total cuteness! Could you ever get tired of little banners like these? I think not : )

Now my home is all dressed up for Spring, and I just have to wait for the Spring weather to get here! Remind me again why I live in Indiana?
