Hey friends! Today I have a SUPER fun project from our playroom makeover that is part organization, part wall decor, and part activity for the kids. Sound interesting??
I also have a fun little game for us to play! Ok here it goes:

I love my boys dearly, and for the most part, I don’t mind when their stuff takes over the house. But sometimes I just want a space to myself that is clean and organized and not cluttered with toys!
I’ve had these letter magnets on my refrigerator for the past 5 years, and now that we’re getting the playroom all set up nice for the boys, I thought it was time for the magnets to find a new home in the playroom.
The problem was that I didn’t have anything magnetic for them to go on in the playroom. After some brainstorming and trip to the dollar store, this is what I came up with:
Yes, baking sheets! I grabbed two baking sheets from The Dollar Tree and arranged the magnets by type. One for our farm animals:
And one for our alphabet letters:
I thought about adding some paper or fabric to the inside of the baking sheet, but since the magnets themselves are so colorful, I didn’t want them to look too busy. So I opted for decorating the ends of the baking sheets with some fun striped washi tape. It doesn’t get any easier than tearing a piece of tape off the roll and sticking it onto the pan. I just used some scissors to trim the overhang!
The last piece of the puzzle was figuring out how to attach them to the wall. I used Command Picture Hanging Strips, which were so simple to use and held the magnet boards in place perfectly.

All you have to do is push two of the strips together to connect them, peel off one of the backings, and stick them onto the back of the magnet boards. I used two per board.
Then you peel off the other backing and stick the magnet board wherever you’d like on the wall.
Pretty simple, right? I always love when I can avoid putting another nail hole in our walls!
I hung them low enough for my 3 year old to reach, and he’s been having a blast playing with them! And Mommy is very happy to have her clean refrigerator back : )

What a great idea to use the command strips. I use the baking sheets for everything, my son’s magnets, my calendar, any play project. I will be getting some command strips to give my son’s sheets their own designated home. Thanks!
You know, I’ve had an oil drip pan for over a year as the little man’s magnet board (love it!) and it’s still standing along the wall. I need to get some of those strips to hang it on the wall. Great idea!

THank you so much for sharing this post awhile back! I’m just now commenting, but I stole your idea that same week! (minus the cute washi tape b/c i have no idea where to buy it!). I had kept ours packed away from our move b/c I didn’t want the “mess”, but my just turned 3 year old is LOVING these now and using them every day! (they were packed away from when my 8 yr old was little! eek!).
What size baking sheets did you use????
The ones I used were small, about 15 x 9 1/2 inches. I hope this helps!
